I am a native New Yorker, born and raised on Long Island. After living in Baltimore, MD for five years in my mid-twenties, I did a six year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. This was a great experience and I would still be serving if not for a debilitating back injury. I was honorably discharged in January 2010. I returned to New York with many hopes and dreams for the future. However, I struggled with the difficulties of assimilating into civilian society, having seen the horrors of war. I used writing poetry as a tool to deal with the difficulties encountered during my service.
I began painting when experiencing writer's block during the course of completing my poetry book manuscript. It was a great way to continue to express my ideas and emotions. It quickly became my passion. In the Fall of 2021 my passion for abstract painting brought me to Asheville,NC and has continued with great results.
Many thanks to all the wonderful people who have helped and supported me as I live my dream. You know who you are...
I use acrylics. I believe that working in a single medium frees my artistic process, allowing each idea to manifest in its own individual style.
Finding release from life's struggles and battles is my goal. I find using colors an effective way of putting form to feelings that have never been easy to name and process using words.
