I am a proud native New Yorker, born and raised on Long Island, where grit and ambition run in the veins. In my mid-twenties, I left the familiar streets of home for five years in Baltimore, MD—an interlude that set the stage for the next defining chapter of my life: a six-year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps.
The Corps was more than service—it was transformation. Brotherhood, discipline, and the raw intensity of combat shaped me in ways I’ll carry forever. I would have stayed the course, but a debilitating back injury forced me to lay down the uniform. In January 2010, I was honorably discharged, returning to New York with scars both visible and unseen, and a heart still burning with ambition.
Civilian life was no easy landing. The weight of war and the silence that followed pressed heavily on me. Poetry became my lifeline—a way to wrestle with memory, pain, and resilience. Each verse was a step toward healing, a way to give shape to the chaos within.
But when the words stopped flowing, I reached for a brush. What began as an experiment quickly became revelation. Painting unlocked a new language—one of color, texture, and abstraction—that allowed me to express what words could not. It wasn’t just art; it was survival, rebirth, and passion fused into one.
In the fall of 2021, that passion carried me south to Asheville, NC, where my work has flourished in ways I never imagined. Here, surrounded by a community that embraces creativity, my vision has found fertile ground.
I owe everything to the remarkable people who have stood by me through each chapter. You know who you are. Your belief has fueled my journey, and because of you, I am living the dream I once only dared to imagine.
I primarily work with acrylics, drawn to their versatility, vibrancy, and adaptability. Yet I’ve never believed in confining myself to a single medium. For me, art is an act of exploration—one that thrives on openness to possibility. I’ll work with anything within reach: traditional supplies, found objects, or unconventional materials that challenge expectation.
Each material carries its own energy, texture, and voice. By embracing this diversity, I allow every idea to manifest in its own distinct style, free from limitation or formula. My process is fluid—shaped as much by intention as by spontaneity—so that a piece can evolve into something unexpected, alive, and authentic. Often, it’s the overlooked or unconventional materials that become the most powerful vessels for emotion, adding layers of depth and character that paint alone could never achieve.
At its core, my practice is about discovery: uncovering beauty in the unexpected, meaning in the discarded, and freedom in the act of creation itself. Whether through bold strokes of acrylic or the raw integration of found materials, my work reflects a journey that is ever-evolving, deeply personal, and rooted in the refusal to accept boundaries.
Finding release from life’s struggles has always been a deeply personal pursuit, and art has become my sanctuary. In the beginning, creativity was my compass—a way to navigate emotions that words could never fully contain. Through color and abstraction, I discovered a language beyond language, one that could transform the intangible into something both visible and visceral. That search for release and expression became the foundation of my journey, and it remains the principle guiding every piece I create. Writing those words for my website years ago was more than a statement—it was a promise to myself.
As I’ve grown as an artist, my inspiration has expanded. Today, life itself is my greatest muse—the emotions, experiences, and fleeting moments that shape the human story. I’m equally fascinated by the materials I use: the textures of paint, the surprises that emerge through experimentation, the way contrasting colors collide to create both tension and harmony. These contrasts—between chaos and balance, light and shadow, stillness and movement—mirror the dualities we all carry within us.
Above all, my goal is to create art that captivates. I want my paintings to burst with vibrancy and vitality—to POP! as I often say. Every palette is chosen with intention, every combination designed to stir emotion and command attention. But beyond the visual impact, I strive to create an experience—a connection that allows the viewer to feel, reflect, and perhaps even find their own sense of release.
Through art, I continue to honor that original promise: to seek freedom, to give form to the unspoken, and to transform struggle into something alive, radiant, and deeply human.
